I would love this product but the lid doesn't close properly and my flavored water can't stay fresh for too long! Worse, smelly fish or cheese odors, or even ordinary smells, easily seep into the jug. The glass spout sits under the lid's rubber gasket, leaving a triangular air gap of about an inch. No matter how you tighten the lid, it doesn't matter - there is a small air gap in the jug. So it is not airtight and not airtight. Most jars of this type are not airtight, so there is no need to compare them to others. However, if that's not a problem for you, the pitcher seems really good in other respects. The pitcher itself is wide and very stable - it doesn't tip over like some others I've seen. The inner basket is removable, so you can use the jug for other purposes. It arrived well packaged and the box says it's family run. I haven't been able to test the ability to pour hot water into a jug, but it looks like it's fine.
