OK so this magnifying glass has a plastic lens (wish I had noticed that before buying but mine is poor as the price indicates a plastic lens and not glass) but an even bigger surprise was that, when I went to "mount" the magnifier on my desktop, the clamp didn't open wide enough to fit a 2x4 (two inch side that's actually about 1 3/4 inches). So it stinks. But then again, it didn't even cost $100. What worries me is that the lens scratches easily since it's plastic. The rest of the magnifying glass appears solid.
