This is the second monitor of its kind. We bought our first four years ago when our eldest was born. It has survived until now, but eventually died. We don't have a huge need for it right now, but still want to be able to hear what's going on in our youngest child's room, so this model is cheap enough to replace. I emphasize that if there is no noise in the room, I will forget to turn off the monitor because it is so quiet. The battery lasts forever. So you can just plug it in one place (e.g. in your bedroom at night) and charge it throughout the day for napping and so on. i like the size This makes the monitor very portable. You can put it in your pocket or clip it to your belt or bag. This is an excellent monitor. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a basic, no frills monitor.** Incidentally, the first monitor we had was a used one with a SIDS alarm that went off whenever the baby slowed down. . I definitely do not recommend it! There's no scientific evidence that an alarm clock can prevent SIDS, and nothing makes parents more paranoid than being beeped at their child's breathing all night.
