After reading a TON of reviews I was terrified to try this. I recently decided to switch to organic/natural skincare after suffering from hormonal/cystic acne last year. For the record, my skin is usually combination and sensitive, but it's been pretty dry during those harsh Canadian winters. Using African black soap was unlike anything I have ever used. First you need to take a block and cut it into smaller pieces. Then shape these pieces into small balls so there are no sharp or jagged edges. I kept the extra parts in a large ziplock bag and the one I use in a small crockery container. Then I wet my hands with warm/cold water, lather with soap, put the soap back and then take the lather on my hands and apply it to my face. As soon as I'm done lathering up, I immediately rinse off. If you have dry and/or sensitive skin, DO NOT rinse with hot water or leave on for too long. I find it dries out my skin so I only use it at night and use a milder cleanser in the morning. But nothing has ever made my skin so clear and smooth. There really is nothing that compares. Some say it helps with acne scars, but it didn't work for me. It really helped prevent future outbreaks - which was my top priority. For the price, I would recommend trying it out if you suffer from acne or poor skin texture/tone.
