Did you know that there are people who think that watching TV in the dark is completely normal and healthy? It is not. This is almost equivalent to shining a flashlight in your eye for the same amount of time. Do you want to ruin your eyes and wear glasses? (Not that there was anything wrong with the glasses.) Then be my guest. I told my significant other that if they wanted to watch tv with me in the dark they could watch it *alone* because I wouldn't risk my eyes due to their ignorance. By now they have learned and accepted that there should be some light in the room. The basic concept of lighting distortion is this: as long as you have a faint light (from any source, really) *behind* the TV, that extra light will help reduce eye fatigue and noticeably improve picture sharpness. If you want to prevent potential damage to your vision and reduce eye strain, you need ambient lighting behind your TV and this is a great solution for that. - LIGHT TEMPERATURE - The other reviews weren't kidding, it's a very low temperature. bright. I thought pure white would be fine, but it leans more towards the cool blue side. For me it's not that big of a problem. For others who prefer an accurate color temperature, you'll need to look elsewhere - LED BRIGHTNESS - The LED is bright enough to help a bit. Personally, I would have preferred a brighter light. Remember that if you watch TV in the dark with only the offset backlight on, you should dim your TV backlight (e.g. your phone should be dimmer in dark rooms). Tape to stick it or if you don't want to stick it semi-permanently you can tape it to the back of your TV. The cable is quite long, so measure the width of your TV. It was a little too wide for my 55" HDTV, so I solved the problem by gluing it to the back in an inverted U shape, placing it 3" on top and on the sides. I took off a star because whatever the black gel material is, it's incredibly sticky. Not speaking of the sticker itself, the entire facestock is very sticky to me which made it a little awkward to touch and stick on. I don't think it's meant to be sticky and the manufacturer should look for an alternative material. - POWER SWITCH - You can plug it into a USB port (which new TVs should have) and the light will turn on. when the TV is on. You can also turn it off and on manually with the switch. The switch is similar to the toggle switch on a room lamp, except the button is literally the size of a pencil tip. It can break if you're not careful. If you want to reduce eye strain but want to experience a darker indoor environment like a cinema, this is a good solution for you compared to no lights behind your TV at all. highlighted.
