Diagonal lighting is the bomb!

Growing up, my mom used to tell me to leave the lights on when I watched TV, and it turns out she was right. There are many articles on the subject, but generally you don't want the stark contrast between a bright TV and a dark room. I noticed an immediate improvement after installing the Antec lightstrip. The color temperature is the correct 6500K, which is important for optimal results. It's meant to be glued to the back of the TV as a single strip, but since we have a 42" screen I had toโ€ฆ

Does what I wanted but now I have to turn it on and off manually

So I bought it as a backlight for TV and movies. Installation was easy and seems like it will stay in place for a while (used glue to slide it over the back of my TV). Connected to the USB port of the TV, switched on - great! However, when I turned off the TV, the light stayed on. I thought my TV's USB port would only supply power when the TV was on - wrong! Some TVs have a USB power management switch, unfortunately I don't have one. My USB port gets power as long as the TV is connected. So now

Low cost, great value

Pretty basic LED strip for the back of your TV. It's a subtle difference that you won't notice, but your eyes will appreciate it. The length of the LED strip is a good size and can be customized according to your needs. It was too long for my 50 inch TV, I had to trim it and there were dashed lines for that reason. it into an outlet/non-TV source, it is active as long as it is connected to the network. If the TV is used as a power source, it will only turn on when the TV is on. Benefits ofโ€ฆ

i'm just a man - New lighting

After reading about why I should consider Displacement Lighting I decided it was worth a try given the low price. When it comes to home theaters, I'm just a man, not a home theater god. I know enough to know where to put my speakers and how to calibrate them, what components I need to get the job done, and I know when something looks good and when it looks stupid. I installed it on the back of a 65 inch TV. supported by a TV stand in the corner of my room. Installing a corner TV might not beโ€ฆ

Looks cool, cheap and great for late night TV

Excellent offset lighting at a fairly reasonable price. I have three of these. One on the 55 inch TV in my bedroom. Two on a 75 inch TV in my living room. For a 55-inch TV, I stretched it back (just above center) and slightly curled the ends once I was a few inches from the edge of the TV. I used black tape to attach it to a few pieces (mainly around the corners and to hold the USB power cord). For the 75 inch TV I used the same inverted U shape. I started both cords at the top center. One went

Good if you can get a working one

This item is very poorly made (as bad as the self-adhesive LED string and on/off switch I think). My first order had a faulty on/off switch that would get stuck in the on position and sometimes cause the string to flicker and short out. My second one seemed to work fine but the solder joints connecting the power cord to the LED string came loose on their own - seriously - I hooked it up to the TV and then (surprise!) it stopped working and when I did the Unplugged TV check I noticed that theโ€ฆ

Good solution for ambient TV lighting

Did you know that there are people who think that watching TV in the dark is completely normal and healthy? It is not. This is almost equivalent to shining a flashlight in your eye for the same amount of time. Do you want to ruin your eyes and wear glasses? (Not that there was anything wrong with the glasses.) Then be my guest. I told my significant other that if they wanted to watch tv with me in the dark they could watch it *alone* because I wouldn't risk my eyes due to their ignorance. Byโ€ฆ
