This review is a MUST READ BEFORE BUYING

Long review, but read it before you buy it. An extremely good cup, here are the facts. I bought this product because I thought my old mug was broken but found the cord was broken. Now I have an extra one, but it's good. I travel/drive a lot so I use heated coffee mugs all the time, I have 4 or 5 different models and use them all. I gave it 5 stars because the only downsides would probably not be downsides for most others and the mug does everything they advertise and what I would expect from a heated mug. Introduction: As for this product, it works great. People who are new to these types of mugs are simply not aware of the characteristics of these types of mugs. That's not to say they don't work or aren't good, it's just that ALL heated coffee mugs have their own characteristics. And not to be rude, some people just don't know what they're talking about. Here are the categories I will refer to. Is the lid tight or leaking and how does the sliding element at the top of the lid work, the fuse, does it heat/heat the coffee and how long does it take how many years can you expect to come out of the mug, bottom width (as stated in fits the cup holder), how many ounces they hold. Advantages and facts: the lid of this product is tight, does not leak, the sealing ring is of good quality, you can select a cup (empty) on the lid, and the lid will not come off. I don't know of a single heated mug that doesn't spill when tipped over. I have several other mugs that only have the lids on top. So this case passes the test. This lid's opening latch can sometimes close when you go out for a drink, or if the vent is part of the latch, it can get stuck with dried coffee residue and not be able to drink properly. I haven't owned it long enough for this slider to wear out, but so far it works well and the vent is separate on the cover. So that passed my test too. I even replaced the lid with a different mug because it works so well. Heating the coffee works great too. 160 degrees is very hot so I can't even put it on that setting if I want to have coffee. It can take up to 30 minutes for a cold cup of liquid to warm up. Most of the time I brew my coffee at home, then pour it into small travel glasses, then when it's ready, pour it into a mug, turn it on and in about 30 minutes I have a piping hot cup of coffee (I pack one for my cream cool bag). So if you drink it black, you only have to stop once to fill it up for the first time. The reason it doesn't work well or at all for soups and sauces is because it works on the principle of heat transfer. Just like a block heater on an engine in that the area where the heater is heating up automatically circulates cooler fluid. It's just science. So if the mud/liquid can't mix/circulate, it won't work. This works for all liquids, tea, coffee, hot cocoa, etc. Don't expect it to do any more than it's intended to or you will of course be disappointed. And you know, all my coffee mugs take about 25-35 minutes to heat up/warm up the liquid, that's how they work. If it's already hot, it will do more than keep it warm/hot when plugged in. All my other cups, when the coffee is hot I have to turn it off or I'll keep heating it and make it too hot to drink. You then have to plug them back in to heat up, that's how they work. I love this mug because it has settings that really work to keep the temperature I like. However, I still like to take it off from time to time as I feel it prolongs the life of the heating element. Think of it this way: All heating elements have a lifespan of "X” minutes/hours. So eventually it will break. So if the coffee is hot, why keep it on longer than necessary? Because the cigarette lighter plug is so easily accessible while driving, plugging and unplugging matters. Next comes the size in ounces. I don't remember how many but it's a lot and more than my 2 cups and as many as the others. So it's ok as I like a big cup of coffee so I don't have to keep refilling coffee (because I have to stop on the street for that). YOU CANNOT WASH THIS IN THE DISHWASHER GUYS! Really guys? You must be informed. Cons: Yes, it's more of a hassle to wash because this mug doesn't have a rubber cap that the plug attaches to. I leave my finger over it when I wash it, but the key is that you shouldn't use it until at least the next morning to make sure it's completely dry. In addition, 3 of my other cups have rubber lids. This mug is a bit narrow for my cup holder and will probably fit most subcompact and newer smaller cars very well. I drive a pickup truck and in the suburbs and I need to adjust the cup holder so it doesn't tip over. I'm a creative person, so I've been successful. I've found that none of the mugs I have fit MY coasters exactly, so I live with that. years with all my other mugs so I just put in a higher rated fuse. I'm not saying I should do this, it's just that I've never had a problem with a higher fuse and it works for me. I am using a 5A 250V slow blow/time delay fuse. If you use a factory fuse and it keeps blowing, just know that this is NORMAL as there isn't a cup on the market that won't blow the fuse from time to time unless you upgrade to a more powerful one amplifier on. /Volt. It is in order. And remember that they turn off as soon as you turn off the car, just like the cigarette lighter goes out when the key is turned off if you have this type of car. My truck runs all the time so I can fill a mug before I go to a meeting and when I get out it's all hot and I just have to top up the cream before I leave. You should always heat with the lid on so it doesn't evaporate or spill. Conclusion: Very good coffee mug. One of the best on the market. Good and warm. Doesn't leak, the lid is comfortable and all of my mugs last 3 to 5 years or more depending on use. Just know that they won't last forever, but for now this Guardian. I highly recommend this product and I don't normally write reviews but as you can see I've spent a lot of time on this review because I've started to rely on reviews to make my purchase and I feel like it's the right thing to do.
