Essential tool for teaching analogue timekeeping

Class/Kindergarten and beyond. My daughter was able to read the basics on the clock when it was introduced to her in first grade, but got a bit confused when she hit weird times like _:42 or _:53. I ordered one of these now that she is in third grade and is on the low end and lo and behold the day it arrived she was given math homework that night where they tell the time and 35 minutes or had to add 22 minutes etc. to word problems. It was SO helpful! Being able to see it and move it around on a scale instead of doing the math in an abstract concept made it easier for her to understand and move to the next level of timing. They also had to disassemble the watch into parts, e.g. 2/3 p.m. or 5/12 p.m. Again, it's a lot easier to hold this in hand to break up the minutes. I also love that the hour hand moves with the minute hand so my daughter could see that as say 12:00 approaches the hour hand is still technically showing 11:_ _ even though it's closer to 12 o'clock. It was the aha moment. This is something that all juniors should have in class. It shocks me that there are older kids who can't read analogue clocks. This is a fundamental skill that all children should master.

Pros
  • JUDY CLOCK: Hidden gear mechanism automatically advances hour hand when minute hand is manually manipulated
Cons
  • Available in white only
