Better design than previous model but too much hum

Wow, this thing is way better than its predecessor Honeywell HS-1655. It is very durable and heavy and looks much prettier. Also, it feels like it's mostly metal compared to the previous model's plastic, especially the base, which is very heavy. It also appears to be a lot quieter than the previous model, and the blade guard is much stronger. Actually, it's like day and night. I just hope it has a better motor than the previous model, I would only run one of these for about a year. As a side note, I also got myself a Honeywell HYF290B Quiet Set Whole Room Tower. A fan for my son and that thing sucks by comparison. It's made of very light and cheap plastic, noisy and doesn't blow that much air. It's so bad my son told me he'd rather have his old, failed HS-1655 than a new fan. So everything comes back and I will buy him another HSF600B. Edit: After using it for a few days, I noticed the buzz that other people are talking about. I leave my fan on 3 or 4 all the time and the hum sounds like it's coming from the engine. It actually reverberates throughout my room, so it sounds like some kind of engine running outside. I just listened to my old HS-1655 and it doesn't hum at all. The noise doesn't bother me when I'm sleeping, but it's annoying during the day. Don't know what to do with this thing? On the plus side, they luckily got rid of the beep when using the remote. They also dimmed the blue light significantly a few seconds after using the remote, which is great at night. Without the hum, this would be the perfect fan. Another edit: wow the hum seems to get louder and maddeningly higher than 2. At 4 or 5 the hum reverberates through my room so loud it gives me a headache. Between a Honeywell HYF290B fan (which I hate) and two Honeywell MP10CESWW air conditioners I recently bought (both broken), I think I'm done with Honeywell. rotates and the motor becomes very noisy. Will go in the trash. I'm done with Honeywell.

Pros
  • Stable test results
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
