The first one I got was a leak around the mechanical seal and let air out when you tried to inflate the balloon. The seller was great when I contacted him and reported the defect. They sent me another one. Unfortunately, the second came with the same problem. It seems to me that there is a manufacturing defect in the rubber seal on the front of the pump. The gasket is warped and does not sit flush with the intake ports. We had an older one that worked for 7 or 8 years, never leaked and eventually broke at the top. Apparently the workmanship has deteriorated badly, or the two I received were from a bad batch. I tried using both along with my broken one to make one good but since it's the same bad area it didn't work for me. Might try to buy another one in a few months and hope they were lemons and not a sign of everyone.
