I've been coloring my hair (according to my whims) since I was 15 years old and several hairdressers have refused because my hair is thin, like a baby's , very porous, soaks up too much paint in some places and slides off almost immediately and always ends up turning too red or green or something. So I basically dyed my hair myself, so it's my own fault. Now I'm 70 and due to a serious illness my hair turned gray within a year. This is a beautiful silver that young girls pay big bucks for, but when an older lady (who is in great shape now) has gray hair, that's all other people see and immediately think of an old, run-down lady. I know; I shouldn't care about other people's opinions, especially strangers, but that's how I am in my life right now. So, after much thought and research on toxic and beneficial ingredients, I decided to give it a try. I did a little test strip and thought I could live with that, but the full hair color has turned out a hundred times better! It is a rich color with many variations to give it a natural look. It was a little darker than I wanted so I used a charcoal detox shampoo the first time I washed my hair and it washed out just the right amount of color. Now I use purple shampoo and conditioner to get rid of the redness. It's only been about a week so can't say how it will hold up but I'm ordering the next lighter shade N to try the next one as I'm sure the shiny silver roots will shine as this one grows out. a quarter inch or so, and lighter fits me better anyway. I am a naturally blonde brunette. Thanks for letting me play with my hair color again without having to worry about chemicals. I left it on for the recommended time and used a heat cap instead of a blow dryer. The heat is everything. It was a pleasant experience, no burning or strong odors, not dirty. My hair is quite short and the color was just enough to cover it properly, but if you have long hair I would recommend buying an extra one.
