Review on Cousin 4469 Jewelry Pliers 2 Inch by Shantel Griffin

Not at all please

I found the nylon parts on this one to be very stiff(?) and not as flexible as other brands. I would even say they are more plastic than nylon. It didn't straighten my wire like I wanted because the pads have to "absorb" the wire more. You have to hold them much tighter than the others, and more often than not your wire just slips off the side. Actually because of them I accidentally bent the wire because it slipped and I hit something. They also leave stains which my older couple didn't have. The pads have to be replaced too often because the stiffness of the pads causes the wire to leave severe grooves. Overall for me this is not the best alternative to the more expensive brands as I have to replace them so often that they end up not being economical at all. I wanted to attach a video but couldn't. I have tried to show the progress through pictures. The end result was after 6 passes (and slips) through these pliers. It's very hard to see due to the lighting, but there was terrible distortion and the end result wasn't smooth. I could not use this wire at all to make a quality product. I've only had this pair for a few months and they are already worn out from use. I can't even reach for the smaller wire because the grooves are too deep.

Pros
  • Reduce the thickness of the sterling silver wire by passing the wire through the jaws several times
Cons
  • No instructions
