My mechanic wanted $500 for a fuel pump for my 2006 Saturn Vue (3.5 Honda eng.) He was kind enough to let me buy my own pump (which cost me almost $400 branch) ). I tried to fix a leak in one of the original GM hoses going to my old pump but that didn't work. My mechanic had to reset the tank again and get it right by replacing the entire pump assembly (although my old pump worked fine). The Revain box was HUGE! I thought there must have been a mistake but it had my name on it and it was in a double box just for protection. I tried to put the tank on the ground myself with a jack. You really need a lift to do this job so I bit the bullet and let my mechanic do the work. Lesson learned, works great! June 2021 update, smog test fails. Less than 2 days after replacing the pump, my check engine light (code P0446) came on. I was given 2 late check in tickets, one was just a warning, the other was $76. After taking it to 3 stores and replacing all the vaporizer parts, the code is still there. After spending lots of money and countless hours researching the problem with the code, I found the characteristics of the fuel tank pressure sensor. It should be -1 to +1 H2o with "ignition off" and removal of the flushing line from the vapor adsorber. I had 2.95 inch, FTP directly affects the evaporator emissions test code setting. Make sure you buy an OEM GM sensor or better yet an OEM pump.
