After reading the pre-purchase comments, I found that a lot of reviewers didn't understand what it is and how it works. How to explain what it does and doesn't do so you can buy what you need. The USB connector has 4 pins connected with 4 wires. 2 of these wires provide power to the device. And 2 of these wires carry data. You can actually buy special adapters that don't have data lines to protect your phone when charging from a public (unreliable) power source. Hackers can use it to attack your phone. This switch has NO data lines. You cannot use it to transmit any information. This is ONLY useful for transferring power. The switch turns the power on and off and breaks one of the power lines. I use it with a USB powered LED strip and it works great for that. But if you tried to use it with a webcam, for example, it doesn't work. It has no data lines to transfer information. ONLY power. It works great for my application and I love that I can also use it to protect my phone from unreliable power supplies.
