I bought two of these for two different people. One is medium and wears a large size and this large will do. The other is usually better suited to a medium size if sleeve length is not an issue, and is typically worn large (and accepting a loose fit around the torso) in long-sleeved shirts. But first he tried on the large and said that this shirt would be too tight in the shoulders when he got to the medium. He is 6 feet tall and weighs 150-160 pounds with an average shoulder width. However, it fits the upper body well - not tight, but like a regular shirt. Hope this helps someone else figure out the size. In terms of quality, these are very good shirts with decent stitching and detailing. Gray looks very sharp. I don't like brown live and in the wash as much as I do in pictures online. In my opinion it looks a bit darker, but I can't say that it's actually different from the photos.
