I was looking for a very reliable set of IEMs for less than $200 and all the reviews online pointed to these Moondrop Starfields so I decided to give it a go to attempt. Wow. I was a little warm with them at first but after having them and using them every day for the last week or so I love them. Box contents: Starfield IEMs2 rectangular headphones with 3.5 plugs mm cable Semi-hard leather case with zipper 2 pairs of small, medium and large silicone ear tips Plastic tweezers 6 interchangeable filters User manual (full in Chinese) Inspection card proof? The body appears to be pretty much the same as the KXXS, ie $200 moondrops, and people loved them. One has to admit that with their brilliant finish, Starfields are probably some of the most beautiful IEMs on the market. I've heard the paint chips off fairly easily, so I'll be relatively careful with that. The Starfield case is metal and will be heavy if you are used to plastic cases. The cable is ok, not great, not bad, just ok. It is fairly flexible and has a rubber/nylon finish. Comfort: I can wear them all day even though they are metal, if you put them on properly you won't feel their weight at all. There are no edges to snag your ears, so they fit snugly. Sound: I'm a pretty big fan of customizing these IEMs. They use a proprietary Moondrop frequency response target curve, i.e. a modified Harmon curve. They beefed up the base a bit and added an extra camber on top to give it a shiny and detailed high end. Although slightly V-shaped, it doesn't have a recessed midrange. The vocals are beautiful and clean. The highs are pronounced, but not enough to whistle, at least for me. If you like "natural" sound, this is a good choice, although it's a bit more "fun" in that it doesn't follow the Harmon curve. religious. It's also not that far off the Harmon curve that it's a specialized sound (basheads will do fine with it, but won't particularly hit). Because of this, these are versatile headphones that are suitable for almost any use, most music tracks will work with them. The soundstage is good, especially for an IEM of this caliber. The audio fidelity is also excellent. I like to describe Starfield's sound as "rich and creamy", like really good super premium ice cream. and I'm relatively new as a casual audiophile, I'm very impressed. I highly recommend Moondrop Starfields. Edit: added pictures. They can be a bit washed out due to the lack of good lighting. Edit2: Now I have a caliper. I measured the stems if you're interested in changing the tips. 5.59mm at the widest point, this is a smoothbore barrel. My default choice is the Dekoni Mercury Bulletz foam tips. Spintips are great when you need silicone. I haven't tried Comply attachments and my JVC coil tips are stuck in inches. A standard connection type with 2 pins 0.78 mm is used as a cable replacement. The standard cable is actually marked L and R, but the ends are clear plastic so you'll have to look closely. These are still my go-to headphones for everyday use, even after trying many other headphones over the past year they just run out of power. Earstudio ES100 mk2 (I got it before Fiio BTR5 came out) with Linsoul LSC08 cable, currently (October 2020).
