Nice and thick, looks like it will hold up well. However, if you're looking for the thermal properties of wool, don't buy it. Although the name says it's wool, it's actually mostly cotton. That is, as soon as they get even slightly damp, they become very cold. I only use them to go to class in the snow, so I don't really care. If you're looking for socks for hiking or skiing in cold weather, look elsewhere. Edit: I am revising my review to one star. These socks are COLD! They are so cold that I also actively avoid them at home, because after about 2 hours of wearing my feet are invariably cold! If I could still get her back, I would. Instead, they are used as rags and then discarded.
