Not as good or as loud as I expected

I used the bell training method 6 years ago when I got my bichon. It was very effective and she knew it right away. Back then I made my own hanging bells using a loud Liberty Bell shaped Christmas bell on the end of a string. I highly recommend this method. After practicing and growing up, she banged the bell so hard that she started chipping the paint on the door, so I replaced it with a Christmas themed door hanger with bells underneath. more than Poochie Bells. This hanger was starting to wear out a bit so I decided on Poochie Bells as I thought the Mudslide print would go well with my color scheme. I expected the bells to be at least as loud as a Christmas door hanger. The print is only on one side and unfortunately using the loop at the top that goes over the doorknob does not result in the tape laying flat. I had to thread the ribbon through this hanger and tie it to the doorknob so the printed side was always visible. It appears to be a design flaw. But what disappoints me the most is the volume of the bells. They are very soft. Luckily my dog is so well behaved that if she doesn't hear someone ring until she hears an answer, she'll come back and smack him even harder. For those who only train a dog using this method, I doubt that this can happen if they are in another room and don't hear the very faint ringing of that bell. Get the ribbon pattern you want, then buy a nice loud wind chime to attach. The key is to hear the signal that your dog wants to go outside.
