Assembly was easy and the foam padding is the thickest of them all. The height adjustment piston is smooth and adjustment is made by spring-loaded pushing up of the adjustment lever. The wheels may be plastic, but it's not the hard, high-strength plastic that other reviewers are talking about. I use this stool on tile floors and don't notice a grinding noise when driving through the inevitable sand that is everywhere here in Florida. However, since the size of the wheel is available in rubber at a major hardware store in town, I plan to put rubber wheels on it later today.
