TOP DRAWER! WALI, SWM201 Side clip, tilt and swivel speaker mounts

I have a pair of RB-3 Klipsch bookshelf speakers that are approximately 15 inches high, 9 inches deep and 8 inches wide. Each speaker weighs around 30 pounds and has a maple wood cabinet. The last thing I want to do with the speakers is to drill holes somewhere in the case for screws to hold them in place. I wanted to mount the bookshelf speakers high. enough on the wall that anyone can easily walk under them without hitting their heads. In addition, they can be tilted down by approx. 3° and rotated by approx. 30° to the left or right towards the listening position, depending on the situation. When the speaker mounting system arrived I noticed that the clamping mechanisms worked very well. occurred. The left and right clamps are independent, and each clamp has its own fine-thread screw to extend or retract each left and right steel clamp arm. Each clip features a unique 1/16" thick band of soft yet durable material. A rubber material that makes actual contact with the speaker cabinet. There is also a strip of the same rubber on the heel of the swivel base that the speaker is attached to Before installing these brackets, I checked the system's clamping force and holding power. I had no doubt that these Wali speaker brackets could easily hold bookshelf speakers twice the weight of mine (that's "in my opinion"), but Wali lists a maximum weight of 55 pounds. The brackets came with everything you need to hang them on the wall. They're not designed for ceiling mounting. Mounting them on the wall was easy and I used a rod finder to make sure I had at least 2 screws in the rods holding the brackets They come with 8 plastic wall anchors and this is where they lost a star from me. The included wall anchors were definitely sturdy. However, the design did not provide for "torque spikes" in the flange, which had to be built into the fairing (when you were driving the anchor down the hole) to keep them from turning when the bolts were tightened. many paintings, lamps and other heavy objects and use different types of light and heavy dowels. Most of the heavy duty wall anchors I've used included these torque spikes in the flange to prevent the anchor from rotating in the wall (which is most likely when the screw starts about the first third of its length). I tried four of these (even using holes smaller than the size listed in the instructions) before he gave up and used his Metal Spiral Heavy Duty Wall Anchors as a substitute. Plastic wall anchors aside I was actually very impressed with the Wali Bookshelf speaker mounts, not only for their good design (the ability to tilt and swivel and the high quality steel materials) but also for the ease of installation. The bracket covers included in the kit make the speaker brackets very nice and "invisible". As I said, if it weren't for the poor design of the included plastic wall anchors I would have given them 5 stars. I am definitely satisfied and impressed with their ability to hold my speakers in place and would recommend these speaker brackets to anyone. I will probably be purchasing 2 more pairs of these brackets very soon for another set of bookshelf speakers I plan to install in another room. .Rich
