Review on Uni Fi Floorstanding Speaker Finished Cabinet by Ronnie Sorensen

Revainrating 5 out of 5

More Power, Better Sound

I bought these Elac UF5 floorstanding speakers from Revain during the 2018 Black Friday Sale. I already had 2 pairs of UB5 bookshelf speakers and was impressed. I also had a UC5 center channel speaker. Floorstanding speakers complete the package along with a pair of Elac Atmos speakers. My Marantz 7704, which I also bought on Black Friday, takes care of the processing. Another thing is food. I have an Outlaw Audio 120 wpc 5 channel amp which I used to power the 5 channel setup I had. The floorstanding speakers sounded good, if not much better than the bookshelf speakers, so I bought an Emotiva 5-channel amplifier with 250 watts per channel, all channels driven. And in two-channel operation, the amplifier accelerates to 300 watts per channel. Featuring 4 ohm speakers that go up to 490. Into 2 speakers. Yes. This is what you want to do. That is the difference. These speakers can handle serious power, and they shine incredibly when you do. Emotiva powers my front, rear and center speakers. Outlaw drives small Atmos speakers and side surround speakers. The Oppo UDP-203 handles movies and music, while the LG OLED handles the picture. All in all, I think I'm finally done with my system. I hope I never have to add or change anything again. I doubt I can improve it without investing a hell of a lot of money into a completely different system I'm not interested in. Bottom line: save your money and use separate amplifiers, or if your receiver allows external amplifiers, go for it. Bypass your internal amp with an expensive external amp that packs tons of power and you'll hear the best your system can sound. I had a Denon 3000 series 7 channel amp with external amp outputs. That's why I bought the Outlaw for $500 a few years ago to try it out. It was worth it, external amplifiers almost always improve the sound of the receiver. I ended up investing in a big $1700 Emotiva amp and everything else really sounds subpar in comparison. It really brings these speakers to life. I almost forgot, my sub is also Outlaw Audio. It's worth it too.
