I've had similar bug killers but they lasted less than a month and when I hit a fly or really any bug I was lucky if it stung them at all. Even if they were in an electric field, nothing really would have happened. These zapper bugs are a different story. In the air, as long as I hold the button, I can shoot and kill the bug while swinging. I could kill large and small flies and even mosquitoes. The batteries I put in these bug traps are the same ones I put when we first got them about 2 weeks ago. They still work, but I think that's mainly because they aren't on all the time. They only turn on when the button is pressed. We took them on a hike and they came in handy. When it comes to cleaning them, in most cases you can shrug off the carcass as soon as you let go of the button. There were a few times they got really stuck and you can just take a tissue and remove them that way. Fewer flies and fewer mosquitoes with these things.
