I love this thing. After I opened it, it was ready to use. An assembly is not required. It takes some time for the creases in the carpet to smooth out after folding. But there aren't that many creases that significantly affect the ball. It has two different holes, a regular one and a smaller one to really hone your skills. The golf ball should go uphill for the last 10 inches with a slope of about 2 inches. Both holes and the rear edge of the plastic block provide access to the ball return, which works well. The mat is designed for hits from 2, 4, 6, and 8 feet, but you can actually go over 9 feet if you dare. It folds conveniently for storage when traveling, but that means you'll have to fold the folds back together. In general I like it.
