Hisence 65U8G. I love it! I'll admit right away that I'm a longtime Sony/Samsung fan. The TVs I gravitated towards were the Samsung 65QN90A or the Sony 65A80J. You may be wondering how I came to Hisence. Short answer: I'm a gamer. So I look at features a little differently than, say, a cinephile. At the top of my list of must-haves are the next-gen gaming features that come with HDMI 2.1 ports. Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) at 4K 120 fps was at the top of my list. This TV exceeds everything I wished for gaming. The picture quality is excellent. Blacks are deep, understated, and colors are vibrant, not fading against inky blacks. So the contrast is great. This TV is very bright and HDR highlights are very popular. The images included in this review were taken right after setup without any adjustments or changes to the settings. I have a bright room and the brightness of this TV and how well it handles reflections is just what I needed. Speaking of setup, it was easy. Some TV brands require reconfiguration for each mode. This TV applies your settings to all picture modes the first time. Of course, you can still go in and make custom settings for each mode if you like. So, all the usual apps and smart features are here. The layout is nice and easy to navigate. The operating system is fast and everything loads quickly. The remote control is nice and not cluttered. Not quite as basic as Samsung's remotes, but I feel like they've gone too far in that regard. There are many shortcuts to popular apps and there is a voice search option. I should also note that the sound on this TV is way better than I thought it would be. It really surprised me. Dialogue was clear and easy to hear and I feel like you can enjoy this TV without an external sound system, especially in a smaller room. With the money I saved I bought this TV for a premium soundbar with wireless surround speakers. Also note that one of the HDMI 2.1 ports on this TV is an eARC audio port. That's where the chic soundbar is plugged in. There are other options like digital audio output. I will also say that this TV looks very nice even when it is off. It has a nice dark matte metal frame which I really like. By the way, this is not the thinnest TV. There is a built-in cable manager on the back of this TV. You can easily wall mount it, but I opted for a tilt-adjustable mount instead. I will also say that I bought all new Ultra High Speed 48 Gbps HDMI wall cables for my setup. There are many brands and it can be very confusing. I love the Zeskit MAYA 16ft CL3 In-Wall which I bought here at Revain for $35. Great offer. Remember that for running cords in a wall, it's better to have a cord that's a little longer than one that's half an inch shorter. Learned this the hard way.
