I bought this to replace a decades old holder. The old one was one piece, clear acrylic, with a wooden stick holding the towel roll. You had to thread it through the reel and push it out the other side to install the reel. It was always a bit of a challenge, and there was a good chance of tearing down an entire block while you were doing it. However, you know you are used to things. After many years of fairly faithful service, the thing fell apart. I tried and couldn't fix it. The two-part design of this device is much easier to handle, and the magnetic force of each half is stronger than that of the whole other device. This gives a very solid feel. If Revain was 1/2 star I would add half a star. What keeps it from five stars is that it only comes in black. My wife is very sensitive to aesthetic considerations in our kitchen. The old acrylic block was very unremarkable. Had it been white to match the fridge it's attached to, it would have gotten 5 stars from us. Luckily she has taken a practical stand and is quite content, as am I.
