Came in a box so it's ok! It appears to be plastic and was easy to assemble. It snaps into place and I have no problem with anything dangling from it. While it looks cute and offers protection, I can't put it in a charging dock or use a Nintendo controller until I remove the joycon case. However, if I remove the back cover, I can hang it on the dock and let the Switch charge. I don't play that much so it doesn't bother me, but if you're a hardcore gamer then I think it's going to be a hassle to disassemble and reassemble every time you use it. All in all I recommend buying it as it makes my switch look cute and stand out.
