I've only had to use one of these rippers so far because I'm not your average seamstress. But I remember using my mom's when I was younger and one of them just snapped at me. I also remember that more than one of my mother's cultivators didn't have a longer piece. I've been using mine for quite some time and have never had any problems. It is very durable and if used properly I see no reason why they would break apart with prolonged use. I have problems with my hands and they are easy to hold and manipulate.
