This coat is warm and a little more stylish than most bulky outdoor coats. I'm 5ft 5in, 140lbs and ordered a medium size - fits well. The back of the coat comes almost to my knees but I love the look and the length means my bottom is fully covered and warm when I sit down. My only complaints are the lack of hidden internal pockets for dollars or a phone and the hood is too big without adequate adjustment but I think it works great over a larger winter hat. The zippers on the sides are decorative only, they do not affect the width of the under coat.
