but still looking for the perfect climbing bag with quality straps

Ok but still looking for the perfect climbing bag with quality straps. only used a few times so far. But it doesn't seem to be as big as I'd like it to be. A 60m rope, 12 puffs, various lines, a fleece top, shoes, water bottles, a bag of chalk and a helmet pretty much fills it out. Also, it won't really stand up on its own unless it's loaded and zipped up. The waist belt padding should cover the hips an additional 2 inches on each side. By the time I get my rack in, the helmet and water bottles may need to be taken outside. I was really hoping for 50 liters. up to 60 liters with a quality carrying strap, but haven't found one yet. This backpack is light, which helps. If you watch the BD video of the guy pulling his gear strap out of the top of the pack, he looks very attractive, but don't expect to be able to attach the same gear loop to the top of the pack as a real pull on the back. Will not happen. However, I will still be using it for a while since it is also ok with a short hip belt. I would swap all the side zips for a bucket bag that you can easily stow your equipment over.

Pros
  • Clothing, shoes and jewelry
Cons
  • Hard to say
