Well I'd say it worked the first time lol. It still works, but calibrating it and following the instructions doesn't accurately verify diamonds. But if I calibrate it with my famous diamond ring, I can test other stones with some accuracy. But do I trust this accuracy 100%? Not at all! And so it's kind of a waste of money, tbh. I still have it because I only got it to satisfy my curiosity. But if I needed one that was always accurate and that I could trust, I wouldn't keep it or use it anymore. But I did a lot of research on this topic as there are many similar diamond testers. I have read many, many reviews and unfortunately this is a common complaint about this expensive tester. So if you don't need it for a deal like this, feel free to play with it if you find it cheap enough that you don't care if the results are perfect. But if accuracy is important, you really should look at the more expensive options. And I don't mean testers that look like this but cost more. I mean the ones that are more like professional testers. But that's just my opinion. I've been thinking about the price, maybe I'll get lucky and get one that works as some reviewers claim. I don't think it should have been.
