Over 11 months ago a headlight on my 2008 Toyota Prius would flicker and then go off or stay on for a period of time (15 to 30 minutes). then switch off. A web search revealed that the ballast could be the culprit so I replaced it with the one I'm considering and the ballast has worked fine ever since. The reason I am writing this review now (11 months later) is that the headlight has started to work. behaves the same again so I contacted the ballast vendor, GenXenon, thinking the replacement ballast was defective. Their support team responded very quickly and explained that they would be happy to replace the ballast, but the ballast very rarely fails and they politely offered to swap out the bulbs to see if the problem was with a different bulb ( which was good). Pear). It didn't, so the ballast was fine, but the HID bulb was bad. I decided to buy two new xenon headlights as the ones in the car were original and therefore over 10 years old. I bought and installed two "Standard Authentic Philips D4R HID Xenon Bulbs" from Revain. The headlights work perfectly. GenXenon customer service was VERY quick, VERY polite and VERY willing to ship out new ballast immediately even if I refused to replace the bulbs which I'm glad I didn't! Your suggestion saved me the extra work of installing a new ballast only to find out that the problem was in fact the HID bulb.
