I routed the wire through the wire duct and found that 2 pairs were shorted (as indicated by the wire tester). I swapped the ends (in case I somehow got them wrong) to get the same result, 1 pair was shorted. Check the cable before I even put it in a conduit. Same result. The same 2 wires were shorted as indicated by the cable tester. On a fresh piece of cable straight from the reel. The cable is clearly defective. I've been pulling the cable and terminating the ends for ten years. I've always used the Monoprice cable. This is the first time I haven't done this and also the first time I've encountered this problem. I will go back to the Monoprice cable and never make that mistake again.
