Appears to be fake lava rocks, never seen before but they were really smooth with a few holes, molded lava rocks would have been coarser, I left them the necessary oil add to stones, and they don't absorb essential oils like buns should. Didn't know there would be 2 so it was a nice surprise I will still wear them but it wasn't what I expected. Shipping was great but you can also get replacement straps in case they break which is great!
