I have a very high instep so my feet are very wide. I needed these shoes for lawn mowing to avoid ruining my very expensive orthopedic shoes. With these shoes, the tongue extends to the ankle – of course, that wasn’t possible with "this” pair of legs. LAUGH OUT LOUD. I trimmed both sides of the tongue (inside the stitch line) to the second eye from the bottom. This frees the tongue and leaves the tongue intact in the middle, on the top of the foot, where the elastic laces cross. Added various insoles with built in arch support (3 pr for $11 on Ebay). Now these water shoes are not only wearable, they are comfortable enough to wear on wet grass. Mission accomplished. Many Thanks.
