Review on Ahlight Replacement Projection KDS60A2000 KDS60A3000 by Leo Puente

UPDATE: Less than a month later the brightness started flickering chaotically. Then after a few days the screen went completely black. It then came on again after 30 seconds and went off again. I removed it and replaced it with a spare part. According to the QM Service Screen, this bulb only has 136 hours. This junk lamp will be sent back immediately. First review: I got the TV second hand so I'm not sure if the bulb that came with it was original. Then in 2014 I just replaced the lamp glass bulb and kept my original body assembly and also reset the lamp counter. My original lightbulb still worked, but I thought the new one would be brighter. Had not. Then in 2018 the replacement bulb started flickering randomly from light to dark, so I just put the original bulb back in the case. This week I hesitantly chose this item to replace my original one and while the original still works I want to keep the original as known to be good. The lack of reviews and the high number of bad reviews got me thinking. However, there doesn't seem to be many options. Full price substitutes get good reviews, these half price fakes get bad reviews. and there seems to be a void between them. I know how to access the QM maintenance screens so I can view the total hours the TV has been in use since it was installed and the total hours since the lamp was last changed. If my original lightbulb was TV original, it has over 10,000 hours and is still working. The replacement in 2014 took another 7,300 hours. If a Sony/Philips lamp lasted 10,000 hours and is still working and a half price Revain lasts 7,300 hours I can't complain too much. (The on-screen lamp replacement notification will activate after around 8000 hours.) Based on my usage history, it takes 3 or 4 years to reach 8000 hours, so I'm hoping to get at least that much life out of this lamp. Today I reset the lamp counter and installed this lamp assembly. It works and the picture is good. A few things to look out for: On the original XL-5200 bulb they have a threaded hole in the tab on the side and a threaded stud on the back end where the wires attach. If you look into this new knot there is no tab but a thin bare wire that comes out of the bulb and attaches to the wire. I see this could become an issue in the future as it hardens with dust or moves and loosens. The wire on the back of the bulb simply attaches to a thin tab. Again, this feels very flimsy compared to the heavy connection points of the original. I'm hoping for the best and will be keeping an eye on any flickering, dimming and total usage time. I will definitely update this review if needed.
