Review on Filter MoCA Cable Coaxial Networks Television & Video by Christopher Sullivan

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Strictly required for MoCA network

You can have a MoCA filter where the line enters the house. Could you. Regardless, you MUST have a MoCA filter on the input of the first splitter (see image). There are a thousand reasons for this, but the most important is security. yes security As a technology, MoCA (Multi-media over COAX Alliance) will roam the network of providers without filtering. This means everything that has to do with the MoCA network. Including personal data. Sure, it's (mostly) encrypted, but you don't want your neighbors finding all your network devices and learning how to hack into your stuff. If you have TiVO, you should already be using it. Most new coax networks (should) already be installed in your home or in the immediate vicinity. This small device prevents MoCA traffic from leaving your home. It stays on your own small network. Added bonus: It's reflective, so essentially your internal MoCA network needs to be running at 1 gig. This will NOT affect your internet speed (neither faster nor slower).

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • I won't say anything

Keeps your signal from leaking out of your house and keeps others from mooching your bandwidth!
