For backgrounds, I'd first like to come back to Otterbox Defender for iPhone 3 and similar cases, including Lifeproof Fre for iPhone 6 and 7 plus and now XR. The previous ratings of 2.5 stars in 7 test reports do not reflect the outstanding quality of this case. Some were expecting a screen protector, which is understandable, but that doesn't justify a one-star rating. Bought Defender from amazon.ca for 45 Canadian dollars. Yes CAD That was great. It now costs $76 for the Big Sur (green) color. As mentioned, this is a great case that feels very good in the hand. Yes, it's a bit bulky, but there are other options, like the Lifeproof Fre (not available at the time of writing) if you want a slimmer case with great protection (based on my experience with the Fre for 7 plus ). ). Personally, a large number doesn't bother me because protection is more important to me. As far as drops go I'm usually very careful with the phone so hopefully I don't have to worry and comment on how Defender protects if the phone is dropped but Fre protected the 7 plus pretty well once it's been dropped or twice, so Defender should work fine for that too. I was trying to decide between a Defender and a Fre for the XR and finally decided that tempered glass might be a better screen protector - and could offer a sharper screen (and it appears to be just that) - than a plastic visor on a Fre , if the visor is on case 7 plus Fre is any indication. With moko tempered glass, quite transparent and easy to install. I was going to buy Invisible Shield+ for 4 times the price of Moko but decided to give Moko a try and so far so good. I'm not sure what the difference between the two could be. So 56 CAD for Defender + Moko glass versus maybe 80 CAD for Lifeproof. So prices between the two could be the same (assuming the Defender was $76 at the time of writing) after adding the cost of tempered glass to the Defender. If there's a problem, it's the cover that opens the charging port. It feels like it might wear out over time or maybe it's just tight at first and will loosen up over time. As for the charging port cover, however, I bought the Mophie Qi wireless charging stand and don't need to worry about the valve unless you need to charge while walking without a Mophie. I can confirm that the XR Defender case works with the Mophie wireless charger. Perhaps another reviewer who couldn't get the wireless charging to work used a different charger. But yes, it works 100% with Mophie.
