Review on ๐ŸŽฎ Razer BlackWidow TE Chroma v2 TKL Tenkeyless Mechanical Gaming Keyboard: Green Switches, Tactile & Clicky, RGB Lighting, Wrist Rest, Programmable Macros, Classic Black by Michael Nard

Came with a loose gap but was able to fix it.

The test is dedicated to the BlackWidow TE Chroma V2 TKL. This keyboard had an unacceptably dangling spacebar. I would return the keyboard but removed the spacebar and was able to increase the action by bending the wire guide and adding a rubber o-ring to the switch. Not perfect. If everything works properly, this is a good keyboard. I took off one star for quality control issues and a second star, bringing it up to three because Razer made some design decisions with this keyboard that aren't well-suited for gaming. Let's start with the palm rest. I find that a great pity because the wrist is very comfortable, but: I think it sucks to play. It's too high Leave the left hand raised above the keys with no real tactile feedback as to where the hand is above the keys. Palm rest feedback is consistently soft. Again very comfortable and beautiful but not suitable for gaming. Especially a game where the left hand moves and reaches for the hotkeys a lot. Think of RTS like StarCraft 2, MMO or MOBA. I use a keyboard without a palm rest, which gives the best results, but then the profile and angle of the keyboard feel high and heavy, respectively. I mean NO, texture. This in turn contributes to keystroke accuracy issues as there is no texture feedback from the keys. When using the palm rest, it feels like a keyboard, that you can hardly feel under your hand. Again handy but bad for gaming. This fact that Razer sells textured PBT keycaps separately is pretty offensive. This is an expensive keyboard and they should have shipped it with excellent keycaps. I don't like it enough to spend an extra $30 not to make the keycaps awful because that leaves the combined issue of a palm rest and high profile. Some positive points. There are more than a few. I have orange switches and they have a light, nice tactical feel with no clicks. Rubber O-rings can be used, making this keyboard very quiet when installed. I used transparent o-rings to minimize light interference. I type aggressively and make all but the quietest keyboards horribly loud, so this level of silence in a mechanical keyboard is exactly what I was looking for. Without the rubber O-rings, there's still a bit of a click when the buttons come out below. My spouse hates clicking on keyboards around the house. The software allows you to adjust the lighting. That is very cool. The HyperShift feature lets you use Caps Lock as a software modifier. Through the software, every key except Windows, Fn, and F1 through F12 can be reprogrammed with alternative actions in Normal mode or HyperShift mode. Macro support is good, but please note that using macros on such devices may result in a ban from online gaming, especially competitive gaming. Therefore, exercise caution and restraint. ; ) It's a good keyboard for typing, although I don't like it for gaming. The palm/palm rest is very comfortable, the button works well with buttons that don't move too much under my fingers. The modifier keys' ergonomics are excellent, and the modifier keys themselves are large, making them easy to find. The Windows, Alt+F4 and Alt+Tab keys can be disabled in game mode. Key travel is slightly shorter than a typical mechanical keyboard, and with rubber O-rings it gets even shorter, reaching the bottom edge at around 3mm. I like it. I also bought a Deathadder V2 mouse and unfortunately the first had to be returned due to a malfunction and the second was already written off due to inefficiency due to a poorly designed and implemented right mouse button. I tried trying out Razer with this build but I won't stick with their products. Alt+F4 and Alt+Tab can be disabled in game mode.
