Whatever price you see, buy an SLR DVR! They are easy to install (especially on hired/rented vehicles) and do not interfere. DVRs with suction cups are often dropped and DVRs with a sticker are difficult to remove. The only downside to SLRs is that on heavier models, prolonged use can wear out the friction hinge on the mirror, and external support is required to prevent the weight from dropping the mirror. Installing a backup camera has the added benefit of avoiding distracting eye contact with passengers and others behind you, while still giving you an unobstructed view of what's behind your car, regardless of how much cargo is stacked in the back seat or at what angle the mirror is pointing. If you choose to use a physical mirror, it's adequate and clear, but doesn't have an anti-glare feature. This DSLR is on the low end - the '1080p' picture quality is lower, but it's perfect for at least proving you weren't responsible for the crash. The low quality and wide angle would make it difficult to find the license plate, especially if it is not close to your car. The touchscreen is very intuitive to use, I had no trouble accessing all the functions. Some different models have different functions and gestures in each zone, but you won't accidentally activate functions here. The touch screen is much easier to use than the buttons on smaller DVRs. Like most cameras, this camera was compatible with my 400GB Sandisk MicroSD card. Although the product description doesn't mention capacities over 128GB, most cameras on the market can handle higher-capacity SD cards - a 400GB microSD card costs less than $50. In my opinion, there is no reason for manufacturers not to officially support even 1TB micro SD cards. As a base model without GPS speed, the current retail price of $60 ($69.99 - $10 coupon) is a fair price.
