*Independent evaluation with no discounts or freebies. Results are based on monthly usage. These stunning wraps were purchased from purer "Cover Fury". I mean, it's just because of my love for the planet, but it's 50/50 earthly love and crazy about stolen plastic parts (thief babies). Luckily, even right out of the box, these packs do a good job of sealing bottle caps to hold 1.5 pounds. Orbeez slush, even turned upside down and shaken! - TRUTH IN THE ADVERTISING: The product specifications are accurate in terms of measurement. - TEXTURE: The texture reflects the hemp/cotton/beeswax ingredients and feels a bit like sandpaper when in contact with other. . They are very pliable and will soften with use, but I was surprised at how stiff they were right out of the box. Although it wasn't "activated", little blue actually got used to the bottle straight away (see video). They leave marks on your hands after the first 10 washes or so. I've washed them about 20 times and it's still some dirt but it's not too bothersome. SMELL: I was expecting a smell of essential oils, jojoba and resins, but in fact they just smell like wax with an impurity. a touch of clover and do not pass them on to food or liquid - EFFECTIVENESS: As you can see from the video, they were effective immediately. They hold liquids, solids, gels and can be rolled into a small ball for mixes, berries, etc. I wouldn't put chips or other delicate items in a wrapper, but they seal effectively, especially when used properly! * See the notes below. I didn't follow protocol. Oops! - STORAGE LENGTH: As a little experiment (because I obviously have too much free time) I cut some apples with a metal knife to deliberately introduce some oxidation. Stored 1/4 apple in blue wrapper with plenty of extra coating (and that was right after the Orbeez video so it doesn't touch other foods), another 1/4 in a freshly washed Rubbermaid plastic container, another 1/4 in a plastic tray with cling film and the last portion is on the shelf right now. After 5 days of refrigerated storage, fully intact wrapped apples were lightly browned and beginning to curl at the edges, while the plastic container was lightly browned and shrunk very little. The food wrap was as brown as the foil itself, and the shelf apples were crooked, brown, and inedible. After 10 days I didn't eat any of it, but the apple chunks in the packet were noticeably drier and more oxidized than in the Rubbermaid tin, the cling film wrapped apple chunks were damp and completely brown, and I had to remove the shelf. Apples up to day 7 because they were leaking and frozen. Now that might sound negative, but I hope it won't be received that way. Obviously there's more gas exchange with foil and they don't claim to be airtight, but that also means they don't retain that nasty moisture that leads to spoilage. However, it proves that packaging will keep your food safe for a reasonable amount of time (hope nobody eats apples older than a week out of the fridge) and you don't have to worry about chemicals. get into your food. Tips from the beginner in organic packaging: 1. Watch the video below the product description or visit the website listed on the enclosed information card! I didn't pay attention to the "activation" process - as you can see in the video - the first time I tried to seal the jar with green foil it didn't stick at all. Gather it very well in your hand to transfer heat and melt the wax a little, then use it. You have to do this every time you use them, but it only takes a second.2. Follow the cold water wash instructions! I'll confess I used warm water because I couldn't get rid of the radish smell, but of course it lost some of its "waxyness". It still works and I expect they will last quite a while, but pay attention to the instructions!3. Make sure they are DRY before storing them! I didn't have the perfect place to hang them dry (since the aforementioned thieves live here) and I ended up folding and putting them away too soon. This led to slight mold growth. Luckily the wax seems to have kept it off the fibers so it was washed off immediately. Overall I am very happy with these wraps and will be buying more. Even my husband was impressed and doesn't care. Gone are the days of useless "sticky" films filled with low-density polyethylene (LDPE) or polyvinylidene chloride (PVDC) that won't even stick - despite curses and physical threats! You can stop fighting non-biodegradable films, feel better about saving the planet while protecting your food. 🤗 I hope this was helpful! And for more fun stuff, see below about fun chemicals in old and new sticky packs: If you're over 25 like me, remember when saran wrap was all there was and it was actually CONNECTED without the use of rubber bands or tape became. Because it contained polyvinyl chloride (PVC), which contained phthalates and plasticizers to make it elastic. We don't like phthalates. They cause hormonal imbalances, which has been backed up not only by small studies, but also by large studies like the one linked in my nerd rant here. Since 2006, the US understandably stopped using these chemicals, but this packaging now contains low-density polyethylene (LDPE) or polyvinylidene chloride (PVDC). This is still problematic as LDPE may contain diethylhexyl adipate (DEHA) which is another potential endocrine disruptor linked to breast cancer in women and low sperm count in men! In addition to that concern, you may have noticed that it doesn't stick nearly as well as it used to. It's still a hopeless situation. In addition, manufacturers are not obliged to indicate the composition on the packaging. So save yourself the worry and frustration and just buy these wax sheets!
