Bought this as a backup gauge as I use it to measure TDS for my freshwater shrimp tanks. Without packaging, this counter does not work at all. The numbers appear and fluctuate as if about to count, but then only three dashes appear - each time. The temperature display is also heavily disabled, showing the boiling point of water regardless of the actual temperature of the water you're testing, including pure ice water, which I tested just to see if it changes. I would return it but it's a hassle for a $5 item in my opinion. Don't repeat my mistake unless you accidentally want to throw your money away or have a problem returning a cheap product.
