Works great with the Apple Pencil 2, although of course you can't attach it to the iPad with a magnet (which you probably wouldn't do if you keep the iPad in a case where the pencil falls off the whole thing anyway time) and you have to move the pen a little lower to charge the pencil, you don't even have to take it off completely. You can also use the touch gesture if you leave some space under the handle. The only thing that disappointed me about this product is that the handle is not high enough.
