Review on πŸ”Š Graphite Facet Jawbone Mini Jambox Wireless Bluetooth Speaker - Standard Packaging by Cheryl Bailey

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great product - no longer guaranteed

I've had several mini jambox speakers over the years. In my opinion, they're still the best little Bluetooth speakers out there. They're clearly produced by people who understand audio, and they have the advantage of being able to control playback from the player software using the controls on the speaker. Now for the bad news. You will find that the price of all Jawbone products has come down SIGNIFICANTLY. This is because the company unexpectedly ceased operations in July 2017. Jawbone got into wearable fitness trackers, got into a legal battle with FitBit and killed them. This entire sector is in turmoil. Jawbone went bankrupt almost overnight from a valuation of over $3 billion. The current price (under $50) still makes these speakers a steal, but understand that factory support will be ZERO. In the past, one of the "fun" features of the JamBox speakers was the ability to change the voice used by the controls (yes, the speaker will talk to you to tell you battery status, pairing, etc.). Unfortunately, at least on Mac, the updater no longer works with the latest versions of MacOS. So it is no longer necessary to install "Rogue" or other voices. And suppose there is no manufacturer warranty because there is no longer a manufacturer to turn to. Great deal for less than $50. The design is top-notch and the build quality is exceptional, so you're unlikely to run into any issues. I've just bought two of these as they will soon be sold out. I might buy a few more as there really isn't a strong competitor. The only caveat is to check the work during the Revain return period, as you're out of luck after that.

Pros
  • 10 hour battery life and crystal clear Bluetooth 4.0 wireless sound
Cons
  • Out of style
