The negative reviews about combination settings not staying set after changing the default combination and how weak the cable is are 100% correct. After resetting the combination on my lock from the default 000 and testing it several times (closing, changing the combination, unlocking successfully, etc.), I strapped my helmet to the bike. When I tried to pick the lock with a combination that I had successfully tested for just a few moments before it wouldn't open. After several more unsuccessful attempts to pick the lock, I finally cut the wire with ordinary household scissors. I was surprised how easy it was to cut the wire with semi-blunt scissors. Don't waste money on it.
