Working from home in a room where even a powerful ceiling fan heated to over 90 degrees, large fans were out of stock and even delivery took over a week, this little fan was a lifesaver. It's not big but was very helpful! And since I'm portable, I've also installed it next to me wherever I am in the house. and it's easier to store in winter than a big one :) I'm happy to report that this is a table fan with real 6 inch blades, not just 6 inch for the whole fan! That's why I chose it from many others. I wasn't sure if I needed the base and pole pieces thinking it would take up too much table space, but I did very well. In fact, I like that the fan is now on a small pole because the airflow reaches my face and doesn't have to be stacked on top of books. When it comes to sound, comfort is relative. I think the lowest speed is pretty quiet, but higher and it gets a little louder. However, the airflow is affected by the increase in noise, so. compromises? I rarely use it above the minimum, so most of the time it doesn't matter. The only thing that bothers me about this hissing is that the sound is an extremely thin, gentle ripple sound, at least at lower settings. It doesn't seem to affect airflow, and the average person probably wouldn't notice it in an office. I mention this as a word of caution for those using in a quiet room or who are sensitive to changes in noise patterns. I'm impressed with the battery life. It lasts about 3 hours on the highest level before needing to be charged. On the lowest setting I used it overnight which is over 6 hours. The light at the base is quite bright, so be careful when using it near your bed at night, especially if you're charging it at that time (the charging light will flash). The light is really easy to hide without blocking airflow. It's worth noting that the fan only tilts up and down, not sideways. The height of the fan on the rack is not adjustable. And the on/off speed selection is the same button, so you may have to toggle between options to get the state you want. need one so I hope it was helpful anyway.
