I bought a Vikings Blade Chieftain razor when I decided to start shaving with a DE razor. I followed the general consensus and bought Feather Platinum blades. You are excellent, there are no two choices. And they are very sharp from the moment you put them on. I found that they can be a bit too aggressive for a beginner and while I don't suffer from sensitive skin and have a fairly stiff face, it's still prone to lacerations when exercising. I mean it's part of the game. In those early days I thought it was the shaver, not the operator (which is just plain stupid, but why not blame everyone, right? LOL). Seriously, after a bit of research and study of the Vikings Blade data, it was suggested that a softer blade could be used. So I bought Vikings Blade Mild blades. They helped but I felt they weren't aggressive enough and a bit more expensive than the feathers. So I went back to Feathers and life was great. Over the next few months, I got kind of addicted to the razor and put together a few handles. A pair of these handles came with blades. One came with several Dorco blades. I ignored them and thought they were rubbish. I don't remember why I used them, but I ended up doing it and was very impressed. I ordered another pack of tips, but the more I used them, the more I realized that I really like Dorco blades. I finally ran out of Feather blades and decided to take a chance and try Dorco blades again. I ordered 301 in a pack of 100. I was worried they would be a different model than those provided but no. they are at least as good as the ones that originally impressed me. I love these blades and they are my absolute blade now. I still think the Feder is a great blade, but I find Dorco's blades more comfortable, last just as long, and are considerably cheaper (meaning I won't hesitate to suggest one if it feels questionable). It's huge. Some note that they seem to escalate with use. I agree. I've found that even feathers tend to, while faster than Dorco blades, not fast enough to make a difference and they cut beautifully the first time. they get easy. better. These are excellent blades. If you're a Feather fan or have been pushed into using them (good advice), I'll give you one more reason to try the Dorco 301 blades. I haven't found a better blade yet and I really enjoy using it.
