Review on Olympus D-460 Digital Camera with 1.3MP and 3x Optical Zoom by Tommy Rao

That's great! I love it! But leave the mirror.

Since I bought this camera, I've enjoyed taking pictures and taking more pictures than I have in the rest of my life combined. With no film to lose, I can really make sure I like the picture by doing what the pros do: taking lots of shots and choosing the best ones. I usually use 460 at max resolution as it doesn't particularly come with pixel richness. Color reproduction is excellent, as is auto exposure. Basically, if you can see it, he can photograph it. Some night shots are impressive. 3x optical zoom is good. Without them I wouldn't have a digital camera. The lens is prone to "barrel distortion," where straight lines like poles and trees appear to curve toward the center at the edges of the frame. A little strategic planning can reduce this problem. The camera is quite slow in real-time recording. About a second elapses between pressing the button and releasing the shutter. It takes ages trying to photograph my son doing a bike trick or catching a hawk on its wing. As an old DSLR lover, I miss my telephoto lens and filters. I miss the instant trigger and other areas of complete control. Actually we are buying a replacement for our old Canon AT-1. A DSLR with film DSLR capabilities is too expensive for me at the moment. So I'll still have two cameras: my super fun and somewhat amazing D-460Z and my SLR. Each with their own strengths, each with their own creativity.

Pros
  • Suitable for many
Cons
  • Long delivery time
