Linux driver not compatible with Ubuntu 20.04 lts

I bought this and installed it on an Ubuntu 20.04 lts machine. I downloaded the driver zip file from the Startech website. I followed the instructions in the readme to use make to compile a kernel module. The instructions don't work. . The make file uses keywords that are deprecated in the current version of make. I tried editing and updating it to make it work but I couldn't compile it so I reset the map.
