Let me start this off with the fact that I'm not a particularly "dirty" person. I mean I don't sweat much and it takes about 3 days on a hike without a proper shower before I'm even a little offended. It's a gift, I know. This is not to gain self-fame, but to properly format this review. I was very interested in slowly introducing eco-friendly practices into my home. I started out by not using detergents or bleach and managed to keep my house clean for about 20 years. I stopped using paper towels over a year ago and I don't look back. I've also stopped buying liquid soap in favor of thinner bars and soap dispenser refills. This last effort is therefore to reduce the need for detergents. Notice I say reduce, not eliminate. When I received these balls I smelled them and thought "Oooh, they smell good." :) I gave them a try and settled on a white shirt with a dirty collar. I threw it away along with all my white pillowcases, some underwear and a blanket that had been lying around for a few months, probably gathering dust. The photos are hard to make out due to the way I took them (sorry) but when I pulled out a white shirt to check the dirty collar it was clean. It wasn't quite perfect, there were very faint remnants of stains, but it's quite an old shirt and I don't care if it doesn't look completely white. This would be an unreasonable expectation. In any case, it looked satisfactory to me. When I smelled the washed fabric, it didn't smell dirty. It doesn't smell like perfume, but that doesn't mean it's not clean. They entered the hot dryer, which always sterilizes almost everything. We've been brainwashed into thinking that perfume = purity, but that's another story. I'm not a fan of perfume, but I don't like the smell of anything, which to me = cleanliness. However, my pillowcases were nice and clean and the throw felt fresh. I will continue to use it and see how it goes and update as I have new revelations.
