I was skeptical that a metal plate would work in a phone case. I have a pretty thin phone case and I don't want anything sticking to the outside of it. The magnetic base is of good quality and flexible enough to conform to the contour of the car's dashboard. The lock nut works fine. Also through the body of the phone, the magnet holds securely even on uneven terrain. Not to mention that the price was right. Great product and great value for money
